- give Catholics and all Christians a better understanding of Church and Bible teachings on homosexuality
- help gay Catholics develop an informed conscience in relation to their sexuality and encourage their active participation in all areas of Church life
- reduce prejudice and discrimination against gay people by fostering a better understanding of homosexuality
